Two years ago when I hit upload on Create Space, I didn’t know what to expect.  I was scared to death but I was also excited to know my dream of being a published author had finally come true.  It wasn’t as I imagined – romance author, but it was about my second love – book promotion. This has been amazing two year journey.  I’ve learned so much about me, my writing and promotion.  I
Today’s Promotion Fear – My Books Aren’t Selling Like Hers This fear will stop you in your tracks quickly.  You haven’t made the best seller’s list like another author.  She’s on FB talking about all her new readers.  She’s signing at all the hottest conferences. You want to crawl in a hole and never come out.  Don’t do it. You are not her and your book isn’t hers either.  Each writer has their own path.
Promotion Fear – I Can’t Toot My Own Horn A lot of writers have a hard time tooting their own horn.  I will be honest and say I fall into this category.  I can promote other people’s book with no problem.  I love raving about other books, I’ve been doing it for years. You would think when it came to my own book, I wouldn’t have a problem.  I can only speak for myself, but

Today’s Promotion Fear –  I’m Afraid To Try New Platforms. It’s so easy to stay in places we feel comfortable with.  You love FB, you know how to work FB and you enjoy talking to your followers. What if your followers aren’t your reading audience? Is time to step out of your comfort zone and try a new platform.  That can be very scary and sometimes time consuming.  I promise you it’s so worth it.
Today’s Promotion Fear – Not Being Able To Keep Up With Promotion I talked about finding a balance when it comes to your promotion.  I will be the first to admit with my first book, I overwhelmed myself with my promotion.  It was my first time promoting my own book and I wanted to be everywhere and I didn’t think about balance.  I can tell you from experience I do not recommend not having balance.
Today’s Promotion Fear – I’m Promoting Too Much I hear this a lot from authors, they think they are promoting too much.  I ask them what makes you think you are promoting too much?  Most times they don’t have a response.  I ask has anyone complained to them about over promoting.  The answer is always no. Yes there are times when you are promoting too much.  For instance if every post you share on social
Today’s Promotion Fear – People Will Ignore My Promotion – Crickets Sometimes this fear is real, you post a promotion and you get crickets.  No one buys anything, not one likes it or shares it. You have to realize that’s the promotion game.  It’s nothing personal and I wish I can say this fear goes away, but it will always be there when you share promotion. My best advice is to continue sharing.  Most times
Most writers are pretty shy so, getting out from behind the computer can be a little intimidating.  However they also know you can’t sell books if no one knows you have a book. It’s hard to step away from your comfort zone, but it doesn’t have to be if you find a few things that you find comfortable.  I recommend social media if you’re not ready to leave your home. Social media is a fun
The month of December was supposed to be the month I completed the editing on my manuscript.  Mr. Fear knocked on my door and I let him sit on the couch for the whole month. Now I wasn’t being lazy, I had tons of things I was working on. I hosted SORMAG’s Online Book Festival.  I taught The Promotion Book Camp.  I created all the content for the Book Camp. I worked on a few
