When you get ready for promotion, you beat promotion overwhelm.

Below are 10 ways to not be overwhelm for next year.

  1. Create A Promotion Plan – Your plan I is your friend. It will keep you on your track if you use it right.  Don’t be trying to do everything.  Pick one or two projects each month.  Focus on them and promote.
  2. Create your mailing list – Your mailing list will give you some place to start with your promotion. You don’t always want to start from scratch.
  3. Do your research before your book releases – When you do your research you know where to promote and you don’t wear yourself out trying to find new places to promote when your book releases. You’ve done your research ahead of time so you are ready to promote.
  4. Use a promotion calendar – this help with not winging your promotion. Use your promotion plan to create a schedule for your promotion.  Each day you know what you have to do for your promotion.

If you look at your calendar and every day is filled with promotion – no family time, no romance time, no writing time, no friend time.  That’s too much.  Your calendar should be balanced so you can have a life and be a writer.

  1. Create promotion content – don’t wait until your book releases. Start creating your content before the release, so you have it ready to go when you are ready to promote.
  2. Schedule Your Promotion – if you have your content created you can start scheduling your promotion using hootsuite or some other social media manager. Scheduling helps you save time and helps you not over whelm yourself.
  3. Check your results – Always check what works for your promotion and what doesn’t. The biggest way to overwhelm is when you are doing the same thing and getting no results. It sucks the life out of you.
  4. Bite size promotion – You do a little each day to get your book in front of readers.

This is what I do using the 15 minute promotion.  I can get a lot of engagement in 15 minutes and I don’t feel like I fallen into the social media hole.

  1. Don’t wait until the last minute to promote – a lot writers wait until the last minute and then they running around until they are exhausted. Get your stuff in order before the book release, save yourself from the added stress.
  2. Get help – You don’t have to do promotion alone. Get a VA, or pay a promotion site to promote for you.

Find your balance when it comes to promotion.  I can give you things to do and what not to do, but it’s up to you to find what works for you.

If you are struggling with promotion overwhelm.  I invite to schedule a promotion audit session with me.  Together we can create a plan to help you find the fun in promotion again.

Get on the path to becoming the Social Butterfly you are meant to be.
