Home   Kdramas   Kdramas I’ve Watched This Month – August Kdrama Recommendations

I didn’t get a chance to share my shows last week, so I’m sharing this week. I’ve also decided to share the writing lessons I’ve learned from each show.

My Sweet Mobster

An unexpected and exciting romance brews between Seo Ji Hwan, a former gang member, and Go Eun Ha, a children’s content creator.

My Rating:

The shows I share here will only be the ones I like and recommend watching.  I don’t believe in bashing shows, because what I don’t like you might love.

I have four ratings:

Good – Kept My Interest

Great – I enjoyed it

Loved it – Had me in my feelings

The Best – Made it To My Top Kdrama List

Rating: Loved It – Will probably watch again. The female lead did get on my nerves in the beginning but I think she redeemed herself.  The male lead has been added to my hunk list. I’m looking forward to watching more shows he is in.

I liked that I got a little bit of what I love in a Kdrama – romance, action, funny and a good looking lead.

Kiss Points – 10

(Points: 1 – Surprise Fish Eyes  3 – Sweet Peck  5 – Makes you smile  10 – Makes You Replay)

Made Me Cry – A couple of times.

Writing Lessons – Give the bad guy a soft side. He has feelings too.

Miss Night And Day

A woman who magically switches between her 20s and 50s lands an internship at the Prosecution Service, caught between two generations and a tough boss.

My Rating:

Good – Kept My Interest

Great – I enjoyed it

Loved it – Had me in my feelings

The Best – Made it To My Top Kdrama List

Rating: Loved It – Will probably watch again. There were two female leads in this show and I will admit I liked the older woman. She was funny and for me she saved the show.  I didn’t connect with the second lead. I felt she could have been honest with everyone.

Kiss Points – 7 because there weren’t many.

(Points: 1 – Surprise Fish Eyes  3 – Sweet Peck  5 – Makes you smile  10 – Makes You Replay)

Writing Lessons – We need more stories with women over 50. Especially romances. This story inspired a story for me.

Serendipity Embrace

After 10 years in the U.S., Hoo-Young returns to Korea and meets his first love, Hong-Joo, at a café by chance.

As old feelings resurface, can they give love another chance or have they drifted too far apart?

My Rating:

Good – Kept My Interest

Great – I enjoyed it

Loved it – Had me in my feelings

The Best – Made it To My Top Kdrama List

Rating: The Best – Made it To My Top Kdrama List – Will probably watch it over and again. I love love loved this couple.  This show was the typical Kdrama with all the feels. One of my favorite hunks is the lead so I was watching just because.  My only disappointment was it was eight episodes.  I wanted more.  They ended it perfectly.  These two had great chemistry and I hope they have more shows together in the future.

Kiss Points – 10 I love when the male leads grabs the female leads face to kiss her.

(Points: 1 – Surprise Fish Eyes  3 – Sweet Peck  5 – Makes you smile  10 – Makes You Replay)

Made Me Cry – A couple of times.

Writing Lessons – The backstory is important too. I loved seeing it from both leads point of view.

When My Love Blooms

Jae-hyun and Ji-soo fell in love when they were university students. Twenty years later, they cross paths once again: Jae-hyun has become a successful businessman, while Ji-soo is a mother and a contract worker living a difficult life.

My Rating:

Good – Kept My Interest

Great – I enjoyed it

Loved it – Had me in my feelings

The Best – Made it To My Top Kdrama List

Rating: Loved It – Will probably watch again. This movie so tugged at my heartstrings because it was the typical romance.  Boy Meets Girl, Boy loses Girl, Boy reconnects with girl, He can’t have her.  They finally get together.  As a writer I learned so much about keeping your couple apart. I wanted to hurt the writer so bad.

The male lead is the reason I watched this show.  I was introduced to him in Healer, and I wanted to see him as a leading man.  He did not disappoint.

Kiss Points – 10

(Points: 1 – Surprise Fish Eyes  3 – Sweet Peck  5 – Makes you smile  10 – Makes You Replay)

Made Me Cry – A couple of times.

Writing Lessons – I talked about this above about putting the couple through hell. I hate it but it works so well with romances.

Be With You

A woman dies, leaving her husband and young son, but during the rain season, she comes back to life and has no memories. The three get together and are happy again, but she has to go back when the rain season ends.

My Rating:

Good – Kept My Interest

Great – I enjoyed it

Loved it – Had me in my feelings

The Best – Made it To My Top Kdrama List

Rating: Loved It – Will probably watch again. There are two versions of this movie, a Japanese version and Korean version.  I saw the Korean version and cried for this family.  I didn’t know there was an original version until I got Viki. I loved this version two from a different point of view.  Both versions had the cutest young man playing the son.  I don’t know how I would handle someone I love to come back for a season.  The characters handle the visit so well.

I recommend watching them both.

Kiss Points – 5

(Points: 1 – Surprise Fish Eyes  3 – Sweet Peck  5 – Makes you smile  10 – Makes You Replay)

Made Me Cry – A couple of times.

Writing Lessons – Time travel is something I would like to try someday. I love them in Kdramas.

Love 911

When a doctor gets sued for misdiagnosing a patient, she reaches out to a dedicated firefighter to be a character witness for her. An unlikely romance sparks between the two of them.

My Rating:

Good – Kept My Interest

Great – I enjoyed it

Loved it – Had me in my feelings

The Best – Made it To My Top Kdrama List

Rating: Great – This is the perfect story about with dealing with grief and finding love again. I didn’t know the female lead or the male lead but they had good chemistry together.

Kiss Points – 5

(Points: 1 – Surprise Fish Eyes  3 – Sweet Peck  5 – Makes you smile  10 – Makes You Replay)

Writing Lessons – Finding Love again stories are something I want to write more of. I believe in love.
