Home   Writing Journey   A To Z Challenge – A – Art Of Storytelling

In 2015 I participated in the A-Z blog challenge. It was my first time doing a challenge for blogging, and I decided to have my theme on book promotion. I wanted to write 26 blogs on book promotion. I thought it went well and I ended up taking those 26-blog post and turning them into a coloring book.

First day of April I saw a post on my Facebook feed about the A-to-Z challenge and sign it up for it. I thought it would be a good way to create new content for the blog and hopefully get back to writing more consistently.  Maybe later have another book from the posts.

Then I let life jump in forget to post my post.  So, I’m starting today and will run over into May.

The theme is writing – mixed bag. Which means little bit of my writing journey, publishing journey, my promoting journey, and my business journey.  So, stop by every day to see what I have share.

Today’s post is A for the art of storytelling.

I have been told that I tell a mean story sometimes. Telling a story and writing a story definitely is an art. I’ve wanted to be a storyteller since I was a little girl. With each story I write, I learned more about the art of storytelling. I’ve learned it is not an easy process. It’s a lot of thinking before you put words to paper or screen.  It’s a lot of getting in your feelings.  It’s all about taking those emotions and turning them into words.  Sometimes they flow naturally and sometimes it feels like you are pulling out one word at time.

My favorite part about storytelling is bringing characters to life in the world I’ve built.  I like going on the amazing adventure with them. I want to know what’s going happen to the characters as I write the story.  I hope the readers feel the same way.

I’m thankful for the privilege of being able to share my art of storytelling with you. Thank you for reading this post today. I’ll be back with B.

Here is the master list if you would like to see what other writers are doing.

  1. I attended a few storytelling events at my library at the end of last year. You could really see the art of storytelling as some were really good and others were okay.

  2. Good storytelling truly is an art, and well done it can be eternally memorable.

  3. Life is a pesky thing – I wish you luck through May! I’ve done a variety of arts and each art the medium fights back – can’t get a right word, the paper won’t absorb the paint in a particular place, the embroidery thread has a slub. But at the end of the day, the product result is where the expression of love and story carried from creator to the audience. Amazing.
