Home   Building Your Readership   Building Your Readership – 2026 Issue #1 Part 2 How To Keep Your Book’s Momentum Going After Launch

Happy New Year Authors!

I released my books, Building Your Readership in June and Love In Space in October.  The year ended and I could have told myself I was done with book sales. As a former book promoter, I knew that promotion never stops for books. You can introduce them to new readers ten years later.

I had to ask myself, what will you do for your book in 2026 to keep the momentum going after the launch.

I shared a few tips with you in part one.  CLICK link below if you didn’t read it.

Here are the next ones:

1.     Repurpose Content into Different Formats:

One of the first things I teach my book promotion strategy clients is to look at their successful promotion for the previous year. Is it content they can use again?

For example, did you create videos, graphics, articles, blogs and marketing material.  You can continue to use them because everyone hasn’t seen them.

Update them or change your brand as needed.

What I like about repurposing is that helps you stay consistent with your promotion and frees up your time because you not creating new content when you could be writing.

Nonfiction authors – convert chapters or key sections of your book into blog posts, podcasts, or video content.

This allows you to reach a wider audience and keep your content fresh. You can also create downloadable PDFs or workbooks that tie into your book, offering practical exercises or worksheets for your readers to continue engaging with the material.

Why it matters: Repurposing content helps to expand your reach to different types of learners (audio, visual, etc.) and keeps your content dynamic, preventing it from becoming stale. It’s also a great way to attract new readers who may not have picked up the book initially.

2.    Book Promotions & Giveaways:

Running periodic promotions or giveaways can bring new readers to your book and rekindle interest from your existing audience. These can be as simple as offering a discounted eBook or a bundle of your books for a limited time. Giveaways can also spark excitement—offering a signed copy or exclusive merchandise can incentivize fans to engage with your content and spread the word.

Why it matters: Special offers and giveaways create a sense of urgency and excitement, drawing in readers who might not have purchased yet while maintaining the interest of your loyal fans.

3. Continue Writing and Sharing Progress:

Share updates about your upcoming projects, whether it’s your next book, short stories, or even blog posts about your writing journey. Giving your audience a glimpse into your writing process or progress on future books keeps them excited for what’s to come. Readers who are invested in your journey will often feel more connected and likely to support your next release.

Don’t forget to invite the readers to join your email list.

Why it matters: Keeping readers engaged with your next steps and the creative process keeps them invested in your brand and excited for more of your work.

How This Supports Long-Term Momentum

  • Repurposing keeps the book visible without burnout
  • Sharing progress builds trust and anticipation
  • Readers feel included, not marketed to
