Love in Space: Journey To Purpera – Baila’s Story turns one today, and I can’t let the day pass without saying thank you — to every reader who boarded the USS Obama with Baila, argued with me about which of the four dates deserved her, and told a friend about the teacher who had 90 days with each date to find forever.
A few things this first year taught me:
1. The readers are out there.
Sweet science-fiction romance readers exist — they’re just scattered, quietly wishing for more kisses and swoon. Finding you is the adventure now.
2. Friendship is the best foundation
Baila and Kal-Ek were best friends since they were nine before they were ever dates. Readers told me that history is what made the romance hit. Knowing someone, really knowing someone is its own swoon. It made every look, every almost-touch, every choice matter more.
3. Baila was worth the wait.
She lived as a Kindle Vella serial before she ever became a book — and hit the Top 250 more than once — and watching her find her way to Kal-El (team Kal-El, I said what I said) never gets old.
So tell me — if you’ve read it, which date was YOUR favorite: Westley, Kal-El, Harlin, or Caston?
And if you haven’t met Baila yet, she’s waiting for you to download her or order a print copy.
