Home   Promotion   Using Your Email Signature For Promotion

Most people sleep on this tool – Email signature.

I call it your mini billboard in your email.  This is the best form of free promotion you can have. You can be creative with it and you can change it up daily, weekly or monthly.

If you use your email signature for promotion.  Put a 1 in the comments.

Now that you are a published writer you never want to send out an email that doesn’t include a signature promoting your book.

This is one of the cheapest ways you can market your book, and it’s the best way to talk about your book without saying a word.

I meet a lot of authors because of their email signatures. They end their email with their signature that announces their new book and that’s all I need to introduce myself to them.

One author had a cute banner that included covers of all her books. That was a neat idea.  I could see she wrote books and what her books looked like.

If you don’t have a signature, take a moment this month to create one.

 What is a signature?

A signature is a mini bio. I’ve seen some introduce the author, some introduce a book, and some introduce a site. Only you can determine what you want on your signature.

Here’s mine for SORMAG

Simple and short.  I don’t recommend a long one.  Short with a link to click.

 For your signature you’ll want:

Name

Title of Book

Date of release (or 25 word or less blurb)

Website link

If you can add a little color and hyper link your site, so the reader can click on and see your book or site.

The best part about an email signature is that you can change it up often.

I recommend for next year you have a campaign for your signature.  If you have a new release – create a campaign for it.

For example:  I created a campaign for my coloring book.  Inside my signature each week I had a link for a free coloring sheet.  Only people I send emails to will see this link.  It was a way to meet new coloring book lovers among the people I send emails to.

At the end of the month I checked for new subscribers.  It worked so I created a new campaign for the next month.

Here are few ways you can use your email signature for free promotion:

Your signature is the perfect way to introduce your book to whoever reads your email.

You can use it to announce the book release date

You can use it to announce your latest contest

You can include a link to an excerpt
