Home   Uncategorized   Creating A Schedule For Your Writing

When I started on this Kindle Vella journey last year, not having a writing scheduled hurt me a lot.  I thought posting once a month was a good thing, when I should have been posting every day or three times a week.  I didn’t think about having a writing schedule because this was all new to me and I didn’t have a clue about creating one.

All these years, I’ve written when I felt like it.  Which of course is why I wasn’t published.  I could work on a book for years without a schedule or deadline.  I don’t recommend my schedule.

As I did  more research about episodic writing, I found that I needed to create a writing schedule.  I will admit this has been very hard for me because I’m not used to writing daily or when needed.  For my nonfiction book, the words flow but with my fiction book, I’m struggling because my muse hasn’t gotten the memo that she needs to show up more.

I’m learning to outline more which helps me know where my story is going.  This has helped me with trying to bring the muse to the surface.

For now, I’m working on writing one hour a day to get into the habit of writing daily.  I’ve found this works well on the weekend, but the weekdays are harder if I’m working.  My poor brain doesn’t want to work anymore when I get home.

My goal this month is to have two episodes a week for both books.  Send up prayers for me.

Do you have a writing schedule?  Do you have any advice for creating a schedule?
