Building Your Readership Newsletter – Issue 13 – Promotion Stages – # 2 Book Launch

Are you prepared for your book launch?

In this issue I share seven stages to prepare for your book launch.

Most authors when they think of book launch, they think of the book launch party. Which is the last part of the book launch, the celebration.

7 Steps To A Book Launch

Your book launch is a step-by-step introduction to your book. You are getting your future readers excited about your upcoming book.

1.     Book Intro – Most authors believe their book intro starts with the cover reveal, but actually it starts when you start the book. If you are sharing your writing journey with your readers, you let them know you have a new book coming on the horizon when you start the manuscript. Keep them inform of the journey of writing the book.

These are few suggestions. You don’t have to do them all, pick a few and share to your community:

Talk about the writing process.

Talk about the research.

Talk about each character.

Talk about what inspired the book.

Create quotes from your story.

2.     Book Cover Reveal – The cover reveal is exciting because you want the readers to know the book is real and it’s heading down the production line. I highly recommend that you don’t share the book cover until you have a pre-order link to go with it. You want the readers in the buy mode and ready to commit to you and your book. The pre-order link also lets you know how many readers are interested in reading the book because they commit to ordering it before it’s released.

The book cover reveal will also include the official launch date. I recommend you give yourself 1-3 months before the launch.

3. Book Launch Plan –This is your step-by-step action plan for what you will be doing during the book launch date.

4. Book Launch Calendar – The schedule you will set for days up to your book launch.

Here are a few suggested dates:

Your book launch date.

Days to invite book launch team.

Days you will create content.

Days you will chat with your book launch team.

Days to send out content.

5. Book Launch Content – The information you will be sharing to your community and launch team.

Graphic suggestions:

Announcement Graphics

Launch Team Graphics

Email Graphics

Social Media Graphics

6. Launch Team – Your launch team is so important because you don’t want to do this book launch alone. Your launch team will include advance reviewers. They are the readers who get a copy of the book and are ready to rave about the book when it releases. They post their reviews and share their reading experience with their community.

Your launch team will also include readers who will help promote the book when it launches. They will share on their social media platforms and to their communities.

7. The Book Launch – The release of the book, the book release party, the results.

Suggestions: I’m a virtual girl, so I always hosting a virtual release party if you don’t have a live book release party in your budget.  You can host the party on your social media page or group.  If you have a YouTube channel you can host a party on your channel.

Celebrate your release and make sure you document everything with your book launch, so you can look at the results later.
