This month I’m hosting a new challenge – Build Your Reader Discovery Trail
It’s an 8-day challenge for my Substack Community. On Tuesday and Thursday, I will share two assignments to help you build your discoverability. Paid subscribers will receive all four assignments and the workbook that goes with the challenge.

As a new author I’ve learned that visibility means someone sees you. Discoverability means someone can find you while looking for a book, topic or reading experience. We want more readers to find our books and creating a Reader Discovery Trail gives that reader a clear next step.
Join me in this challenge as we learn how to improve our book’s discoverability.
Subscribe to my community to get the challenge in your email or become a paid subscriber for the challenge and workbook.
If you don’t want to receive the email, check the platform you are currently reading on Tuesday and Thursdays.

Day 1 — Think Like Your Reader
- Write down 5 phrases your ideal reader might search when looking for a book like yours.
- Compare those phrases with the words you currently use to describe your book.
October Reader Discovery Trail Challenge
Complete one challenge each day. Don’t try to rebuild your entire author platform. Your goal is to make one part of your discovery trail stronger every day.
Tell us in the comments one phrase your reader is looking for.
